Enquiry types

The “Enquiry type” choices on the website's contact form, each with an optional email that is told when an enquiry of that type arrives.

What it is for

When a visitor writes to the office, they choose a type from a list you set here, such as a question, a service request or a suggestion. Each type has a name, an English name for an English site, and an optional email for whoever looks after it.

Who uses it

The page opens for whoever holds “View enquiry types”, to look only, or “Manage the office's settings”, to work in it. In the built-in roles: Owner, Manager. They are granted to any role under Settings → Roles and permissions.

Step by step

  1. Press “+ Add type”, type the name, and the English name if the site is in English.
  2. Type the “Receiving email” if someone should be told of this type's enquiries, then press “Save the type”.
  3. To change a type: the pencil on its row. To delete it: the bin.

How it works

The types show on the form in the order they were added, the first chosen already. With no types, the “Enquiry type” field is hidden and every enquiry arrives without one. Every enquiry lands on the “Enquiries” page whatever its type; the email is an extra that tells whoever is responsible. The notice names the enquiry's type and carries no name, phone or message, so they sign in to EstateOS to read it, with a role that opens “Enquiries”. The notice goes to the type's email as it is when it is sent, so none goes for a deleted type or a cleared email. The email is never shown to visitors. A deleted type leaves the form, its earlier enquiries keep it, and it shows under “Deleted” for reference. A name takes up to 120 characters. The action log records which fields changed, by name, never the email itself. Only someone holding “Manage the office's settings” changes the types.

On the page

  • The types, and the deleted ones for reference.
  • Each type's name, its English name beside it, and its receiving email. The pencil changes it, the bin deletes it.
  • “+ Add type”: the name, the English name, and a receiving email if you like.

Questions

Does a type need an email?
No. Every enquiry lands on “Enquiries”; the email is an extra notice.
What is in the notice?
The enquiry's type, with no name, phone or message; the enquiry itself is read on “Enquiries”.
I deleted a type. What happens to its enquiries?
They stay on “Enquiries” with their type's name. The type no longer shows on the form, and no notice goes for it.
