Website news
The office's news and announcements on the public site: written as a draft, published now or on a coming day, and pinned to the top if you like.
Open the page in EstateOSWhat it is for
Where the office's news and announcements live, as visitors read them on the site's “News” page: a new service, an important date, a coming occasion. An item with no publish date is a draft nobody sees. News does not wait for “Publish the site”: an item shows on its publish day.
Who uses it
The page opens for whoever holds “View website news”, to look only, or “Manage the office's settings”, to work in it. In the built-in roles: Owner, Manager, Marketing. They are granted to any role under Settings → Roles and permissions.
Step by step
- Press “+ Add news”, and write the title, the summary and the text.
- Leave “Publish date” empty to keep it a draft, choose today to publish it now, or a coming day for it to appear that day.
- Tick “Pinned at the top” for an item that must stay first, then press “Save the item”.
- On an item's row: the eye publishes it now or takes it back to draft, the pencil changes it, the bin deletes it.
- Press “Open the site” to see the news page as a visitor does.
How it works
An item's state comes from its date: no date is “Draft”, today or a past date “Published”, a coming date “Scheduled”, appearing from the start of that day. Changing an item without changing its date keeps the time it went out. The site's “News” page shows the latest thirty published items, pinned first, then the most recently published, each with its title, date and summary, and the title opens the item's own page with its full text. An item's address is made once from its first title and never changes when the title does, so shared links keep working. The title takes up to 300 characters, the summary 1,000, the text 50,000. A deleted item leaves the site and its link stops working; it is kept under “Deleted” for reference, and does not come back from there. A closed site shows no news. Every add, change, publish, pin and delete is written to the action log. Only someone holding “Manage the office's settings” writes news.

Questions
- How do I schedule an announcement of a coming occasion?
- Choose the announcement's day as the “Publish date”; it shows “Scheduled” and goes up that day.
- How do I pull an item with a mistake without losing it?
- Press the eye on its row: it goes back to draft and keeps its text; publish it again once fixed.
- Why don't older items show on the site?
- The news page shows the latest thirty published items, pinned first, then newest.
- I deleted an item by mistake. Can I bring it back?
- It is kept under “Deleted” for reference, but does not come back from there. Add it again; it gets a new link.
